Write About the Right Role for You.. in a Heist!

Here are common roles in a heist, each with a specific function:

  • Mastermind – The planner and strategist; orchestrates the entire operation.

  • Leader/Commander – Handles team coordination during the heist; may or may not be the same as the mastermind.

  • Safecracker – Specializes in opening safes, vaults, or security systems.

  • Hacker – Disables or manipulates electronic security (cameras, alarms, locks).

  • Driver/Wheelman – Manages the getaway vehicle and escape routes.

  • Muscle/Enforcer – Handles physical threats; controls crowds or guards.

  • Grifter/Con Artist – Uses charm or deception to gain access or manipulate targets.

  • Lookout/Spotter – Watches for police or unexpected interference; often communicates with the team.

  • Demolitions Expert – Deals with explosives when forceful entry is needed.

  • Inside Man – Works within the target location; provides intel or access.

  • Decoy – Distracts law enforcement or misleads surveillance.

  • Fence – Disposes of stolen goods post-heist and launders profits.
